Workshop on Overcoming Manufacturing Challenges for Advanced Superconductors

Organizations across the entire superconducting value chain will be brought together in a workshop setting to assess the challenges, barriers, technology risks and market adoption risks in several application areas of superconductors. Examples of these areas include electric grid resiliency, high field magnets, and next generation electric machines. The workshop will serve as a vehicle to help build public and private sector collaboration that otherwise would not have been possible. The objective of this workshop is to provide input for an industry-driven roadmap that will help to overcome the major technological barriers that inhibit the growth of superconductor-based advanced manufacturing. The roadmap will identify industry-projects with the following characteristics:

  • Driven by a platform technology that benefits multiple participants in different industries
  • Driven by a final application common to multiple participants in the same industry
  • Specific to meeting the needs of industry participants
